In October 1910, my grandfather Jan (John) Alyzso (Alzo), left his family and home in Kučín, Slovakia (then Hungary) for America. At 16, he may have traveled to a new life in a new world, but he never forgot about his parents or siblings.

Lisa Love the photos, thanks for sharing.
I did get to meet my grandfather as he lived fairly close and did not die till I was 12, but he never would talk about Denmark, he was an American and Denmark was in his past. All of his family in Denmark had died by the time I was born, so he just had some cousins there, but four brothers and bunches of cousins in Minnesota.
What an awesome opportunity to actually see that land and know the story behind it. This must have been a highlight of your trip, Lisa!
What a wonderful story, Lisa! Can't even imagine what it felt for you to stand on that lande.
